Elaine D. Zelley, Ph.D.
La Salle University
Assistant Professor -- Department of Communication
My area of expertise is interpersonal communication -- the study of verbal and nonverbal messages that allow people to interact on professional, personal, and public levels. I am particularly interested in the communication of personal relationships. My research and scholarly work has focused on aspects of (a) relationship maintenance; (b) friendship -- supportiveness, conflict, and competitiveness; (c) the communication patterns of women with eating disorders, and (d) communication theory. Beyond interpersonal communication and theory, I also teach communication ethics, the communication of sex, gender and sexuality, and small group communication.
