"The Brother Gerry Molyneaux Endowed Scholarship"

Dr. Lynne Texter announced the establishment of a scholarship in the name of Brother Gerry Molyneaux during the Communication Department's 25th Anniversary Gala in October 2003. The new scholarship recognizes and celebrates Brother Gerry for his vision, passion, guidance, and faith over his 25 years as the leader of Communication and his 50 years as a Christian Brother.

Brother Gerry's vision allowed him to see and respond to the ever-changing role that Communication could play in society and in the university curriculum. His passion for teaching and learning -- and for life -- is absolutely contagious. He has lit a fire under so many others. Brother Gerry's guidance has helped many of us to find our way and stay the course. His faith has been the bedrock we could lean on and build on. Brother Gerry helps us to believe in ourselves and what we might become.

At the 25th Anniversary Gala, the very first La Salle Communication intern, Paul Perrello '79, and Dr. Lynne Texter presented their personal checks to start the scholarship fund to ensure that future generations of Communication students at La Salle will also experience the influence of this most incredible man. Since that time, approximately $35,000 has been pledged toward the goal of a $50,000 endowed scholarship.

Though we are well on our way to awarding our first scholarship, we are not there yet. Before the first scholarship can be awarded, the minimum goal must be met.

Please consider honoring Brother Gerry and assisting future Communication students with a donation paid to: La Salle University Communication Department
