Katie Neary Dunleavy, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor

Katie's research focuses on instructional communication, particularly the behaviors of both students and professors in the classroom. Her secondary research area is interpersonal communication.

Katie received her B.A. in Communication Studies from West Virginia Wesleyan College, with minors in English and Art. She then received both her M.A. and Ph.D. from West Virginia University. Her M.A. was specialized in research and theory, and her Ph.D. was specialized in Instructional and Interpersonal Communication.

Katie has received teaching awards from the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences at West Virginia University and from the Instructional Communication division of the International Communication Association (ICA). She teaches many courses, including theory, intercultural communication, interpersonal communication, small group, and public speaking.
