Bridging the Gaps

Purpose:
Bridging the Gaps originated in Philadelphia and is a nationally-recognized
program providing an intensive summer interdisciplinary internship.
Students with an interest in community health and public health
can develop these interests and apply population based skills under
the guidance of community and faculty mentors. The program is administered
by multiple schools of nursing, medicine, and public health including
Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia College of Osteopathic
Medicine, Temple University, University of Pennsylvania, Drexel
University, Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, and the University
of Pittsburgh. The collaboration forms a statewide Bridging the
Gaps Network. La Salle University School of Nursing and Neighborhood
Nursing Center have been involved in one or more aspects of the
Bridging the Gaps initiative since 1995.
Staff:
Undergraduate nursing students are recruited to apply for a position
as a summer intern during the academic year by the Undergraduate
Program Director at the School of Nursing and the Associate Director
of the Nursing Center.
