Position Description:

The Department of Biology at La Salle University invites applications for the position of Chair.  The Department seeks a dynamic person to lead a department of 7 full-time faculty serving undergraduate biology majors, science-education majors, and pre-health professional candidates.  The department also acts as a service department for programs in the allied health professions.  The department will be housed in a new and expanded science and technology center that opened for the Fall, 2009 semester. 

Qualifications:

The successful candidate is expected to possess a doctorate in the life sciences, a strong commitment to teaching and scholarship, and administrative experience in a leadership position.  The position entails managing the department's administrative activities, managing student recruitment, promoting teaching excellence and professional development, teaching, and university service.  Rank and compensation are negotiable. 

Review of applications will begin on or before October 20, 2009, and continue until the position is filled.  The candidate filling the position is expected to begin in the Fall, 2010 semester.
