From the Constitution of the Faculty Senate:

The Faculty Senate shall be the formal and official voice of the Faculty and, as a deliberative body, shall have the power to initiate, formulate, and recommend proposals affecting University policy to the Administration and, through the office of the President, to the Board of Trustees.
