St. Hilary Residence Hall
History
  • St. Hilary Hall was part of a trio of residence halls built in Fall 1966. The other two resident halls, St. George Hall and St. Jerome Hall were also built in 1966.
  • The residence hall is named after St. Hilary of Poitiers, commonly referred to either as the Doctor of the Church or the first great Christian thinker of France. What does that mean? Well in his lifetime he wrote the first lengthy study of the doctrine in Latin, introduced Eastern theology to the West, and contributed to the development of hymnology. Ironically, St. Hilary Hall is currently La Salle's Honors Residence Hall.
Did You Know?
  • A University I.D. card monitoring system controls access to all housing facilities. All of the traditional residence hall-style buildings are also staffed round-the-clock with a security desk receptionist.
  • A year after St. Hilary Hall opened, the first class of women were admitted to La Salle's Evening Division.
  • St. Hilary Hall is interconnected to St. Albert, St. Casian and St. Jerome with a series of "tunnels." A resident student can walk between the four residence halls without ever going outside. (This helps when it rains.)
