What if I need money for books?

Students who receive financial aid in excess of their charges will have a credit balance on their account once the University has received the funds. This balance may be used for books and other expenses.

There are two ways you can receive money for books. You can wait for your refund check to be processed, which is usually done approximately two weeks after the add/drop period. The Business Office mails this check directly to your home address.

You can also transfer some of your credit balance to your gold card. An application for a gold card can be obtained from the Office of Student and Accounts Receivable. Upon completion of this application, you must take the application, along with a $10.00 processing fee to the Office of Student and Accounts Receivable. You student ID will then be activated and the transfer completed. The ID now acts as a debit card in the Bookstore and also in the Market and Main Food Court. You are now ready to buy your necessary books. Please note that the Office of Student and Accounts Receivable sets a limit to the amount of money that can be transferred to a student's gold card. Please see the Office of Student and Accounts Receivable for details.
