Important Information About My Stafford Loan

How do I apply for a Stafford Loan?
Students can apply for a Stafford loan by completing an Institutional Data Form (IDF).  This form allows for the student to specify how much Stafford funding they wish to borrow, as well as who they intend to use as their lender.

Do I have to sign another Stafford Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN) if I have already done so at La Salle?
As long as you continue to use the same lender, the MPN is good for your entire academic career at La Salle.  Remember to look at the Stafford loan amount on the award letter and notify the Office of Student Financial Services of any changes.

I am a new student at La Salle, how do I apply for a Stafford Loan?
If you are choosing a lender from our preferred lender list, you will receive a letter with instructions from Sallie Mae regarding electronically signing (e-sign) your pre-certified Stafford loan MPN from Sallie Mae.
If you are opting to use a lender not on our preferred lender list, you will need to provide the Office of Student Financial Services with a copy of your signed MPN.

I have been notified that I have to do an entrance interview, what is that?
The Department of Education requires that all new borrowers complete an entrance interview. Your Stafford loan funds will not be credited to your account until this process is complete.
If you are choosing a lender from our preferred lender list, you will complete your entrance interview at the same time you e-sign your MPN, unless you have already completed your entrance interview previously.
