Bilingual and Bicultural Studies - Testimonials
"I am a recent La Salle University graduate (Jan. 2004), and
I wanted to share with you how wonderful my educational experience
at La Salle was. I began my Master's degree program at La Salle,
after a friend shared how great her experience was at the University.
As an undergraduate, I attended a University where the professor's
really cared about the students’ education, and I wanted the
same in a graduate program. I found that and more at La Salle. Dr.
Gomez and the Bilingual/Bicultural Studies faculty were the most
helpful and informative team of professionals that I have ever had
the privilege of knowing. Each of the professors was personable
and caring, and had a genuine interest in making sure that each
student was getting the best education possible. The Bilingual/Bicultural
program was fantastic. There was a nice variety of course offerings,
and the class times were perfect for the working adult student.
The entire faculty had a wealth of knowledge and an obvious passion
for their subject area. From my first class to my last, I was provided
with useful information about culture and language from a native
perspective that I am able to apply and use in my own classroom.
The friendships that I've made and the knowledge that I obtained
allowed me a wonderful educational experience. I thank the University,
Dr. Gomez and the entire Bilingual/Bicultural Studies Program faculty
and staff for the experience. I look forward to continued opportunities
to share my La Salle University experience with others, so that
you can continue to make a difference in others lives, as you did
in mine."

"Dr. Gomez provided the necessary guidance and information
so that I could obtain my sought-after certification in a timely
manner. His attentiveness to and his knowledge of the program requirements
allowed him to answer any questions that my classmates and I raised.
"As a mature student and seasoned educator, I experienced
the cross-cultural communication course material as challenging,
thought-provoking and consciousness-raising. The knowledge and teaching
style of Dr. Angerosa created a safe and comfortable classroom environment
that encouraged culturally diverse students to express, without
hesitation, thoughts and opinions about cultural differences and
perceptions. A testimonial to Dr.Angerosa's class: controversial
topics were raised and openly discussed. A must-take-class for anyone
who intends to teach."

"I entered La Salle’s Bilingual Bicultural Studies program
because I wanted to further my education and I wanted a degree that
was recognizable and distinguished from all other Masters programs.
The classes offered and the professors in the department are wonderful.
They are all knowledgeable of the subjects they teach and know how
to keep the interest of the class. The students who are a part of
the program all have a diverse background ranging from Hispanic
natives to first time Spanish language learners. I think that variety
offers a lot to everyone.
"The most interesting part of the program was the workshops
and the class 'Cross Cultural Communications.' The workshops provided
insight on various aspects of the Hispanic culture in Philadelphia.
“Cross Cultural Communications” taught how we perceive
others who are different, the stereotypes and prejudices associated
with it and how to overcome this. This is a class that should be
offered to every student to teach awareness of the diverse world
that we live in today. As I strive to offer my knowledge to the
Hispanic community in Philadelphia, I am certain that the wisdom
gained from this program will strengthen my goals."
