Information Technology Capstone
Students in the Information Technology Leadership program are required to complete a capstone project as part of the program. Unless there are extraordinary circumstances, students complete the at the end of the program of study.
Course Description
INL 880: Capstone
3 credits
The capstone experience will provide an opportunity for students to work in a team to apply the leadership skills and tools learned in other required courses to analyze, design and evaluate a solution for an information technology management environment. The students will work in a team, in partnership with an external company. The course culminates in a paper or report and a presentation.
Guidelines and Timetable
Students are required to complete the pre-semester requirements before registering for the capstone course.

1.Identify capstone group.
2. Identify capstone project, outside partner and faculty advisor(s).
3. Submit capstone proposal (incl. executive summary, rough timeline and student resumes).
4. Receive comments on proposal and identify reader(s). |
| Capstone semester – first third |
5. Research literature.
6. Submit outline and proposed timeline.
7. Submit signed plagiarism statement. |
| Capstone semester – second third |
8. Submit individual reports on team progress.
9. Submit first draft by mid-semester. For fall and spring, this is the 8th week of class. For summer, this is the 6th week of class.
10. Submit subsequent drafts. |
| Capstone semester – final third |
11. Submit final draft to advisor(s) and reader(s) two week prior to presentation. The presentation MAY NOT be scheduled until two weeks after the submission of this draft.
12. Give presentation on capstone topic at two weeks after submitting th final draft.
13. Make final revisions and submit to advisor(s) and reader(s) by the end of the final exams. For fall and spring, final exams are usually during the 14th week of class. For summer, final exams are during the 12th week of class.
14. Submit revised and approved document.
15. Receive grade after all revisions are completed and the faculty advisor and readers acknowledge acceptance of the revised document. |
