Graduate Certificate in Business Systems Management
The Master of Science in Information Technology Leadership (M.S.. ITL) program, a new multi-disciplinary program in the School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Business, provides the foundation of information technology and the leadership skills needed for mid- to high-level information technology or systems managers. There is ample evidence that for-profit and non-profit companies have a significant need for such leaders with the widespread use of information technology. Industry studies report that it is important for both the technical and the business sides to better understand each other's jobs and functions, especially as technical people assume project management roles.
By establishing a set of core competencies, the program will enable the students to acquire the conceptual foundation of leadership skills and technology concepts. Thus it will enable them to advance their professional careers as leaders in information technology and to effectively manage human and technical resources. Core competencies include leadership, human resources, project management, communications, financial management, and technical competencies.
Combining the strengths of the University's M.S.. Computer Information Science and MBA programs, the M.S.. ITL program is meant for those people who wish to become managers of information technology resources.
