GRADUATE RECORD EXAMINATION (GRE)

The GRE Test, is a standardized examination that is administered electronically the first 2 weeks of each month. Applications for the GRE must be mailed to the Educational Testing Service in Princeton, New Jersey 2 months before the test date. Call 1-800-473-2255, or visit http://www.gre.org for information about the GRE.

The GRE consist of three parts: verbal, analytical, and quantitative. Prospective students can prepare themselves for the examination by using any of the test preparation books put out by companies such as Barron's or ARCO. These are available in most bookstores and in many libraries.

The Institution Code for La Salle University is 2363. The department code is 0402. Using these codes on your test form will help insure we receive your scores in a timely manner.

 
  MILLER ANALOGIES TEST (MAT)

The MAT is a standardized test consisting of 100 analogies (A:B::C:D). The test takes approximately 50 minutes to complete and is usually offered twice a week through the Counseling Center Office. To get exact information on the times and days the test is offered at La Salle University, call the Counseling Center at (215) 951-1355. Because this is a standardized test, it may also be offered at a college close to your home. You will receive a copy of your test results in approximately 4 weeks. DO NOT confuse the Miller Analogies Test (MAT) with the GMAT; these are different tests.


GRADUATE MANAGEMENT ADMISSION TEST (GMAT)

The GMAT is sponsored and controlled by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) and is administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS). ETS consults with this council on matters of general policy, develops test materials, administers the test, and conducts research projects aimed at improving the test.

The GMAT is offered four times a year: January, March, June, and October. La Salle University serves as a test site for the March, June, and October tests. This test includes sections in assessing applicants' verbal, quantitative and analytical writing abilities.

GMAT applications, including a registration fee, must be submitted to the Educational Testing Service at least one month in advance. Applications may be obtained from ETS, Box 966, Princeton, New Jersey 08540, or by visiting http://www.gmat.org for more information.
