Information Technology Leadership - Testimonials

I joined the ITL program in 2002. I was a new hire employee at IBM, having put in a solid two years of work into the company. I began having discussions with my managers and mentors on what I wanted to do next in my career, and also what I wanted to "be" in the next 5-10 years out. I always knew I wanted to be in management, but being at the level I was in the company, I was not going to be given that kind of skills training until I graduated to that level.

I had to do something to set myself apart before then, so I could continue on the fast track in my career and be identified for such a position.

I began looking into various MBA and MS programs. LaSalle's ITL program struck me as unique, and catered to my needs perfectly: The program offered night classes - designed perfectly for the working student!

I enrolled and feverishly began taking 2 classes per semester. The course work and lectures placed me into a more favorable position for promotion. I was directly applying my class knowledge at work, in our projects, individual tasks, and also management discussions related to our business strategy.

As I approached my last few semesters, my management team felt like I was ready for the "next step": I was promoted into a Program Manager role! I am the only female at this rank in my organization, as well as, the youngest at this level to have been elected into the position.

I owe alot of my advancement to the cultivation the ITL program provided to me. Because of the smaller more intimate setting of classes, the professors were able to recognize each student's raw talents and mold them to be competitive with the knowledge they taught us.

I completed my master's program in May 2006, a very tough juggling act, working and going to school - but the struggle was well worth it - I achieved my goal before I even completed my advanced degree. In an economy like this, and specifically in the IT field, how many students can say that! Thanks LaSalle!
