The Role of the WOC (ET) Nurse

WOC (ET) nursing is a specialty in contemporary nursing practice in which nurse specialists manage persons with disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and integumentary systems. Formerly known as ET (Enterostomal Therapy) nursing, WOC (Wound, Ostomy, Continence) nursing involves assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for persons with challenging conditions such as: complex surgical wounds, chronic wounds like pressure and leg ulcers, traditional ostomies, continent diversions, drains, fistulas, urinary and fecal incontinence.
