Technical Requirements for Online Courses

Taking an online course will require you to have your computer up to date with its settings. You'll need to familiarize yourself with the following information and instruction to know if you would like to participate in the online courses. Once you sign up for the Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nursing Education Program (WOCNEP), all this information will be reviewed.

1.
Web CT, La Salle's Course Management System, works best when your computer has:
Windows 98 or higher operating system
The latest Internet Explorer browser (http://www.microsoft.com)
Network, cable, dsl or dial-up connection (using a dialup connection may cause pages to load slower than with other connections). Please not that it would be a great benefit to you if you had high speed Internet service.
Pentium II 400 Mhz processor or higher is recommended
Additional peripherals may be required depending on the course. These might include: speakers, sound card,
microphone, etc.
Please note: La Salle University does not support Mac computers. Students with Macs will have to consider using another computer or purchasing a discounted computer through Dell in order to participate in the Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nursing Education Program (WOCNEP) courses.

2.
In addition to the technical requirements, please take the WebCT browser tune up. This will help you ensure that your browser is up to date.

3.
Finally, once you are registered for your classes, you will need to install several programs and update your computer in order to get it in good working condition. Click here to read the instruction sheet that is handed out to our online students for downloading the necessary programs to their computers (this is a Adobe Acrobat file). If you have any questions, contact the HelpDesk at 215-951-1788.
