Graduate Assistantships
The Graduate Program offers two assistantships based within
the Psychology Department. Each assistantship carries a stipend
of $1,500 per semester which will be applied to a student's tuition
and fees in the Graduate Program.
These assistantships carry a work requirement
of approximately 8-10 hours per week during the semester that they
are offered. Work responsibility may include some combination of
administrative assistance, research assistance, and teaching assistance,
depending upon departmental and program needs as well as the student's
goals, strengths, and schedule.
Interested persons should submit a statement
of interest and other evidence of meeting the requirements of the
position to the Director by July 1, for the Fall term. Submissions
for the Spring semester must be received by December 15.
Other Grants
The department, at the discretion of the director, gives a grant
for out-of-town students to assist with relocation expenses. The
student would be notified of their receipt of this grant at the
time of their acceptance into the program.
La Salle offers 30% off to teachers who work
in the schools of Philadelphia Archdiocese. A letter from the principal
is necessary each semester to confirm full time employment.
Gundaker Foundation Inc., a non-profit corporation
of the Rotary District 745, offers several one year Graduate Award
Grants. Applications must receive the endorsement of the District
745 Rotary Club. Contact your local club for information.
Employer Tuition Reimbursement
If you have a recognized third party (employer, labor union,
foundation, etc.) who is paying your tuition, you may send a copy
of the "official notification" along with your invoice
and credit will be applied to your invoice for the authorized amount
of the award. Be sure to also enclose a check or other form of payment
for any balance due. If the organization sends the payment at the
end of the semester upon receipt of your grades, you must pay the
tuition in full at the beginning of the semester. You can enroll
in the Deferred Payment Plan or apply for financial aid to cover
the tuition charges.
Deferred Payment Plan
The Deferred Payment Plan is offered by the University to provide
a way to pay tuition and fees in monthly installments during the
semester. The maximum amount that can be deferred is 75% of the
semester educational expenses less any University student
financial aid. To participate in the Deferred Payment Plan, the
completed Promissory note form must be presented to the Office of Student and Accounts Receivable along with any required down payment (usually 25%). Then,
three subsequent monthly payments are made during the semester.
There is a twenty-dollar ($20) application fee, The Deferred Payment
Plan Promissory Note is included with each semester invoice or can
be printed from the La Salle website at www.lasalle.edu.
Tax Credit: Lifetime Learning Credit
Graduate students may be able to claim up to $2,000 of tax credit
each year. Unlike a deduction, which reduces the amount of income
subject to tax, a credit directly reduces the tax itself. The amount
of the tax credit is gradually reduced if your modified adjusted
gross income is between $41,000 and $51,000 ($82,000 and $102,000
if you file a joint return). For more information consult your tax
accountant or check http://www.irs.gov.
