In the spring of 2010 the La Salle Ambassadors celebrated their 10th Anniversary as a student organization on La Salle University's campus! A reception for all current Ambassadors and Ambassador Alumni was held at the Blockley Pour House in University City.
The La Salle University Explorer Ambassador Program was started in Fall 2000 following the inauguration of Brother President Michael McGinniss. The main purpose of the organization was to take a group of students on the road to alumni receptions to network with alumni and update them on what is happening on campus.
Students were recruited to complete applications, obtain recommendations from faculty and staff, and take part in a rigorous group interview process. Ultimately, twenty-five students were selected to represent all aspects of campus--from various academic departments to athletics, Greek organizations, Students’ Government Association, Resident Student Association, community service organizations, co-curricular organizations and the Honors Program. In our third year on campus, the Ambassador program officially became a registered student organization through the Division of Student Affairs. As a co-institutional organization, the Ambassadors can use campus facilities for meetings, recruiting new members, utilizing an agency account, and applying for funding to run campus-wide programs.
Today, due to the increasing number of events hosted by Development, Alumni Relations, University Events and various academic departments, the Ambassador program has expanded its membership to include up to thirty-five members. Ambassadors represent La Salle University at University functions including alumni receptions, Homecoming, Reunions, Parents Weekend, and other events designated by the President, Vice-Presidents, Deans and other members of the campus community as approved by the Ambassador Executive Board. Ambassadors serve as liaisons between the current student body and alumni, parents, and friends of the university. We attend many events and promote La Salle University, its interests, goals, and traditions to students, parents, alumni and friends of the University.
