The Twenty-first Annual Charter Dinner
Leadership Award to be presented to
The Christian Brothers of La Salle University
in partnership with the prior recipients
Hyatt at the Bellevue
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Saturday, March 23, 2013
6:30 p.m.
The Charter Dinner celebrates the founding of La Salle College on March 20, 1863, and
pays tribute to the generations of Christian Brothers, laypersons, and clergy whose dedication
has made La Salle University the prominent institution that it is today.
Since its founding, La Salle has played a leadership role in Philadelphia as both an educational
institution and a responsible corporate citizen. The University recognizes those who display
outstanding leadership in the corporate, civic, governmental, or religious communities with
the presentation of La Salle University's Leadership Award.
Since 1863, the Institute of the Christian Brothers, founded by St. John Baptist de La Salle, has
made quality education accessible to students in the Philadelphia region and beyond. Brothers fill
the roles of professors, administrators, staff members, advisers, and mentors at La Salle University.
Their resilience and creativity in partnership with lay leaders and associates have enabled La Salle
University to thrive. Even as the student body has changed and diversified at the University over
the past 150 years, the Brothers and their partners have continued their mission to offer a personal
and practical education that meets the needs and circumstances of their students.
Since its inception, the La Salle University Charter Dinner and Leadership Award Ceremony has raised over $3.7 million, and proceeds have been used to enhance the University’s Scholarship Fund, thereby benefiting many La Salle students. We are pleased to announce that proceeds from this year’s award ceremony will help establish the Sesquicentennial Scholarship Fund. In this way, we will honor and strengthen the Christian Brothers' efforts to provide a Lasallian education to even more students.
