La Salle University Communication Students Win Award at Campus MovieFest in Los Angeles

Five La Salle University Communication majors won the award for Best Story at the CampusMovieFest International Grand Finale Awards in Los Angeles. It is the world’s largest student film festival.

The La Salle students, Catherine Zini, Sean Gubitosi, Mike McCoy, Andrew Groy and  Dave Gryzbowski, collaborated to write, produce, and direct their film, Empty Pages. Zini and Gubitosi starred in the five-minute movie.

“It was a group effort,” said Grzybowski, who will be a senior next year.

This is the second consecutive year the La Salle students won its regional competition and travelled to Los Angeles for the final international competition.  In addition to wining for best story, “Empty Pages” was also one of the 16 finalists nominated for best film out of nearly 1,000 entries.

Gubitosi, McCoy, Groy, and Gryzbowski were in Los Angeles to receive the award; Zini was taking an intensive language course at the University of Salamanca in Spain (she is also majoring in Spanish).

The film has been posted on YouTube (and has received more than 2,300 hits, according to Gryzbowski). You can view it below.
