MUS 100: La Salle Singers (F S)
1 credit/ Elective
Students participate in the La Salle University Singers, a student organization dedicated to the highest quality of choral singing with the goal of performing at least two major concerts per semester. They learn to read music and to perform in 4-part harmony while exploring many musical genres, from classical to popular, and from sacred to secular, and many musical composers. 1 credit. Students may enroll in class up to 3 times.
MUS 230: SOUND STRUCTURES I
This course is an introduction to the materials and structures of music, including rhythm and meter, scales, keys, intervals, melodies, and chords. Students will learn to read and notate music using computer-assisted instruction. Students will apply basic concepts of music theory in short compositional exercises.
MUS 330: SOUND STRUCTURES II
Students will analyze and critique the formal design and style character- istics of contemporary music selected from a variety of genres and cul- tures. Course work will include creative and critical thinking projects that build on the composition and notational skills students acquire in Sound Structures I.
