SIFE club pushes forward in National Championship in Kansas City in May

The Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) club, part of the business school at La Salle, has come a long way from last year.

After losing 16 members who graduated, SIFE had no idea what the organization could make of itself. This year, however, the club did better than it expected.

Due to an increase in membership and hard work, La Salle’s team won the Regional Championship in Boston on March 28.

This May, the team will travel to Kansas City, Kan. as part of the National Championship. If the team succeeds, SIFE will have a chance to participate in the World Championship in Paris.

The team’s primary goal is to go out in the community and teach people about business and financial literacy. However, competition is part of the club.

“Competition is tough, but we feel good. Our time is committed to doing well. We have a lot of preparation time,” Vice President Sean Houlihan said of the upcoming Regional Championship.

Out of a total of 700 or 800 SIFE teams in America, Nationals will only include the top 150 teams. Houlihan said that in order to ensure that his team advances to the World Championships, La Salle’s SIFE members must continue to work hard.

“We have to keep making sure projects we’re committed to stay strong,” he said.

He also said that the team needs to prepare a good presentation for judges.

La Salle wishes the SIFE club all the luck, support and encouragement it can get in the upcoming few weeks.
