Digs: Melissa Guney

Melissa Guney, a Resident Assistant on the third floor of Neumann, had a unique idea for the set up of her dormroom—to turn it into a mini apartment. She says that she got the idea because “there are always people coming in and out of my room to talk about things happening on the floor, so I thought this was an appropriate set up.”

The “living room” is complete with a futon and her desk, and then she used her closet and dresser to separate that area from her “bedroom.” The living room is decorated with Guney’s 76ers shrine and various other posters.

She said that her favorite thing in her room is the 76ers shrine because she and friends are all huge fans, and they go to as many games as possible and have even met a few of the players. She purchased most of the things in her room from Ikea, one of her favorite stores.

Guney turned a normal dorm room into a cozy place to hang out and a private place to go if you need to talk to her about any problems. With only a few adjustments, she was able to make her room different from most and have it fit her personality.
