La Salle Oddity: Chicken Suit

It’s likely that at some point before graduation, every La Salle student will have walked to class and had to look down to check what he or she was wearing. Oftentimes, students have woken up and ran to class in slippers and pajamas, or even the clothes they wore the night before. One junior’s walk to class last week, however, was a bit more embarrassing.

Kaitlin Bonner had to walk to her class dressed in a large chicken suit. After having lost a bet with junior James Carcilli, Bonner had to don the suit and walk the entire way to her class dressed up.

“We were bored one day and decided to make a random bet with each other. We came up with that we weren’t allowed to point at anything or anyone,” Bonner said. “The first person to point at something would lose. The winner would have to pick an outfit the loser would have to wear to class one day.”

Needless to say, Bonner pointed at her friend, Kate McGowan, after she passed gas one day and, unfortunately, Carcilli witnessed it.

“The minute I lost, he ran to his car to get the suit he brought back from home,” Bonner said.

The suit covered her entire face, so all people saw was an anonymous life-size chicken wandering through campus.

“I didn’t really care. I thought it was funny,” Bonner said.

Although her trek to class is odd enough, what may be even stranger is that Carcilli even owns a chicken suit.

“He’s had it since high school,” Bonner said. “He loves that chicken suit.”
