Professor Randoms

Full name and title: Conrad Gleber, Director of Digital Arts and Multimedia Design
Hometown: Gleber moved here three months ago from Tallahassee, Fla.

Conrad Gleber is the new digital arts and multimedia professor at La Salle. He has
only been at La Salle for three months, but has already found his niche.

What college(s) did you attend? Gleber received his Bachelor of Fine Arts and his Doctorate from Florida State University and his Master of Fine Arts from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Where did you get your inspiration for teaching? “For me, it’s part of making art,” he said.

What courses do you teach? “It’s my first semester here,” he said. “I teach Color Theory, Digital Photography and the DArt Portfolio Development course. Next semester, I will teach DArt Project Management and portfolio courses and Typography for Print and Web Design.”

Did you teach before coming to La Salle? If so, where? For the past five years, Gleber directed a similar program at Florida State University.

What is the funniest moment you experienced teaching in the classroom? “When a student in my class pointed out that I had two different shoes on,” he said. “It’s apparent that I can get lost in thought while I’m getting ready for class.”

If you could only teach students one thing, what would it be? “To ask fun, hard, intriguing questions that will pique theirs’ and others’ curiosity enough that it leads to great conversations and arguments,” Gleber said.

What is your favorite place on campus? Gleber’s favorite place outside on campus is under the trees near the Union. His favorite place indoors is the La Salle Art Museum.

Do you have any special pursuits? “Finding ethnic restaurants,” he said.
