Administrative Services' new employee helps out with special events around campus

Did you ever wonder how La Salle keeps up with all of its activities and events? Someone has to be in charge of it all, right?

If you venture to the second floor of the Union, you are most likely going to see a new face in the Union Services office, which plans all of the events in the building.

Suzanne Earnest began working as the Union Services Associate this past July, and is excited to be back on a college campus.

She is originally from Media, Pa. and received her bachelor’s degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management, with a minor in Business from Temple University.

“I absolutely loved my experience at Temple because there is so much going on, but you can choose how involved you want to be or not,” Earnest said. On a normal day, Earnest is busy scheduling events and checking the day’s set-ups for various affairs going on in the Union. She also has the responsibility of booking events in Backstage and the dorm room lounges.

“I had been away from doing special events for a little while and realized that’s where I belong as far as I can tell at this point,” she said. “So I saw this job as a great opportunity to gain more experience and get back to something I had really enjoyed. Thankfully, it all worked out, and I am happy to be here.”

Outside of La Salle she enjoys shopping, watching movies, spending time with family and friends, cooking and hanging out in the city.

She has always been impressed with how much Philadelphia has to offer, and enjoys going to the different restaurants, museums, parades and festivals in the city.

She is also balancing her full-time position at the University while taking classes in the Graduate Professional Communication program.

In the next 10 years, she hopes to have her Master’s degree and possibly another one as well. But what she really dreams of is to open her own business one day.

“I have a couple ideas in mind about it, so only time will tell,” she said.
