The girls of townhouse A11 are breaking the rules, because they have a sixth roommate, and his name is “Chad.” “It’s really nice to come home after a long, hard day to Chad’s half-smiling face,” Janine Stevens said of her favorite decoration in the house. Roommate Colleen Kane met “Chad” at Hollister Co., her place of employment, and decided to bring him home to her roommates. “Chad” of course is the 6ft. by 6ft. sized wall hanging that drapes one of the walls in their living room. Since Chad is based in neutral colors, the roommates decided to decorate the living room in colors that would fit well with their poster, and at the same time accent the room. They chose aqua and brown. Brown because it fit well with the room and aqua because it’s a favorite color among the girls. The room also features a framed poster of the Italian Market in South Philadelphia. Stevens said, “The poster has turquoise in it, so it really ties the room together.” The room also has a wall hanging clock, where all of the different numbers are pictures of the roommates and friends. “We had to update the clock’s pictures from last year, since this is the first year we’re all living together. But it’s a great way to tell time when you can say it’s half-past Janine,” said Kane. An important part to the room is that it is very symmetric and that is thanks to the girls’ obsession to keep everything balanced. “When my roommates and I were trying to decide how to arrange the room, I said, ‘Guys, it needs to be balanced because symmetry is very important in my life!’” said Kane. The girls wanted to make sure that they made the living room a very inviting room, because they often have guests come over. Stevens said, “We want our townhouse to be a place where our friends can hang out, whether we’re huddled around the T.V. watching our favorite reality show or getting ready to go out. Chad, the Italian Market and our color scheme make attractive surroundings for any night.” reillyb1@lasalle.edu |
