L-Stop employee offeres students more than just food items, change when they stop in Treetops

Treetops Café not only offers great food, but also great employees, who add to the overall atmosphere of La Salle.

Robert Stith works at Treetops and the L-Stop, the mini convenience store in Treetops. When it first opened last year, the 38-year old was put in charge of running the register at the new food market.

Stith has been working at La Salle for the past year and says that he enjoys the job. He has worked extensively in Food Services, also helping out with La Salle’s catering department.

In addition, he works for The Spirit of Philadelphia and the bar/lounge, Zanzibar Blue. He is the oldest of four children and comes from a family he describes as “close knit.”

His favorite part of his job is getting to meet so many new people. He finds it interesting working on a college campus and interacting with all of the young people.

He even brings a radio to work so everyone can listen to music to keep their spirits up.

“I like to mingle where the action is,” he said.

He makes an effort to learn people’s names and get along with the students because, in his eyes, “every little thing counts.”

“My dream is to one day open up my own café or eating place,” he said. However, he is still looking forward to working at La Salle for a couple of more years.

In his free time, Stith enjoys going to the theater, the movies and dining out, especially in Center City. He always enjoys reading mystery novels.

His favorite quote, by Henry David Thoreau, that he encourages students to live by: “Dreams are the touchstones of our characters.”

So, the next time you swing by the L-Stop to grab something to eat, be on the lookout for Robert Stith and his music and advice. You’d be surprised by how much employees have in common with students and all that they have to offer.
