Professor Randoms

What is your name and job title?

I am Dr. Maggie McGuinness and I am the chair and a professor of the religion department. A chair creates schedules, does planning for the department, and works towards hiring new people. It is basically an administrative position I have in addition to teaching.

What courses do you teach at La Salle? Which is your favorite to teach and why?

I teach the Christian Tradition, Modern Catholicism, Religion in America and Catholic History.  Modern Catholicism is probably my favorite to teach because we deal with contemporary issues. The topic is always changing and students tend to have a lot to say on the topics.

If you did not teach, what would you do?

I would work in a library or in an archive. I enjoy researching.

What is your favorite book and why?

My favorite book is To Kill A Mockingbird. I read it in high school and I’ve probably read it 30 times since then.

What is your favorite holiday and why?

My favorite holiday is Christmas because we do a lot as a family at that time of year. There is a lot of time spent with family and friends, which I enjoy. As a family we have developed a lot a traditions that I really look forward to.

What particular day in your life sticks out to you the most or is the most important to you?

The day I got married.

What is one goal you would like to accomplish in your lifetime?

I would like to be free to do a lot of traveling. I would like to see more of Europe, Canada and Latin America.
