Food services wants utensils returned

Many poor college students have stolen a cup, bowl or fork from one of the dining halls on campus to bring back to their dorm rooms. Now that the end of the year has rolled around, Food Services would like its utensils back.
This week, Food Services will be collecting any items students have taken so it will have enough for next year.
A drop box will be placed near each SDR booth in the residence halls. Students are encouraged to return any items they have taken throughout the year. By placing these drop boxes around campus, Food Services will be able to get back the utensils they need.
Treetops Supervisor Elizabeth Paxton said, “We just want to do this in the most non-confrontational way possible.”
Over the past year, more than 1000 cups have gone missing from Treetops Café alone. This number doesn’t even include equipment stolen from both Treetops and the Blue and Gold. Getting back as many utensils as possible will keep Food Services from having to buy new ones.
Although some rumors have circulated that the loss of utensils would result in a rise in the cost of meal plans, Paxton said that this is “an urban legend. We aren’t out to get anyone; we just want our stuff back for the benefit of the students at La Salle.”
