Pig roast to be a unique dining experience
Tired of the same old dining hall food week after week? Then fear not, for on Oct. 26 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. there will be a pig roast on the Main Quad. This event is hosted by the Students’ Government Association, so Spotlight caught up with the Vice President of Student Affairs of SGA, Jordan Feld, for more information. Spotlight: Who is invited to this event? Jordan Feld: Anyone who has any connection to the La Salle community; faculty, staff, resident students and commuters are all welcome. SP: Is this event free? JF: Well, it works just like a meal plan. The B&G is closed that night, and this event works just like the B&G, so you would come over and swipe your ID to use your meal plan to attend. However, the SGA will pay for any commuter students or anyone who doesn’t have a meal plan. A La Salle ID is required for entry though, so everyone needs to remember to bring one. SP: Will there be any options for vegetarians? JF: For vegetarians, we do have a lot of options. We have pupu platters, vegetarian egg rolls, vegetable stir fry and skewered shrimp, as well as mixed greens, steamed rice, fruit and tons of other food. SP: What else is on the menu? JF: Roast suckling pig from Esposito’s in South Philly. They’re known for their pork sandwiches, so that should be really good. We’ll also have chicken wings, Hawaiian chicken salad and tons of delicious dessert options, including pudding and water ice. SP: So will the pig actually be on a skillet over a fire? JF: No, unfortunately. We really wanted that, but since the pork isn’t being cooked at La Salle, it wouldn’t be practical. The pig will be out and carved on site though, so students will still be able to see it if they want to. SP: What does the SGA hope will result from this event? JF: Just for the La Salle community to have a good time. We wanted to do something fun for the students, and give people a change from the same dining hall food every night. SP: Are there any other neat things students should expect? JF: There will be a photo booth like last year, lais and all that fun stuff. We’re working on getting hula dancers. It hasn’t been finalized yet, but we do expect them to come. SP: Is there anything else you’d like to add? JF: Just that everyone should come out. It’s going be a lot of fun. williamsk1@lasalle.edu |
