Library creates new Web site
La Salle students find themselves doing research, working on papers or meeting study groups at the Connelly Library. The library was busy doing something of its own. Its Web site underwent changes that will allow easier access and offer more services to the La Salle community. The library staff hopes that the changes will make the site easier to use with an increased amount of color and pictures. Thomas Ipri, Media Services Librarian, has been coordinating the construction of the new site. “All the library services people know and use will still be available,” Ipri said. “The library worked closely with University Communications to ensure the site meets the design standards of all the other La Salle University sites.” As a potential result of the new site, making announcements about the latest services will become easier. For example, there is now a new Central Search that will allow students to search more than one library database at a time. The new and improved site was set as the default at 11 a.m. Feb. 27. However, the old site is still accessible through a link on the La Salle University home page. One reason behind the modifications is the hope that more students will take advantage of the resources the library has to offer. “The staff at Connelly Library devotes a lot of time [to] selecting and purchasing resources that will help students with their research,” Ipri said. “Although the Web has a lot of great resources, it lacks many reliable, authoritative sources. Through the databases we provide, students can be certain they are getting materials that are reliable and authoritative, and, thereby, write better papers and complete superior projects.” Click here to view the new website mcglonel1@lasalle.edu |
