Collegian Athletes of the Week

Dan Waters Baseball Wyndmoor (Pa.) Pitcher Junior

Waters was named Pitcher of the Week by the Philadelphia Diamond Five for his stellar performance (6 IP, 3 H, 1 W, 12 K) in La Salle’s 14-1 victory over Delaware State on Tuesday, March 14. His 12 strikeouts were the most by an Explorer since Will Fleck recorded 13 in 9.2 innings on April 7, 1997.

Male Honorable Mention: Senior Marco Onorato had a solid weekend for the men’s tennis team, posting two singles victories (a 6-1, 6-3 win over Fordham and a 6-4, 7-6, 7-4 win over Loyola) and an 8-6 doubles victory with junior partner Scott Karwowski over Loyola.

Laura DeZolt Softball Morrisville (Pa.) Pitcher Junior

DeZolt led the Explorers to winning the championship of its bracket over the weekend at the Bash at the Beach Tournament. Going 2-1, she recorded both of La Salle’s victories, including five shutout innings in the clinching game, an 8-0 win over St. Francis on Sunday, March 19.

Female Honorable Mention: Sophomore Emily Bonczek had another solid week for the women’s lacrosse team, posting six points and making five of eight shots on goal. Her four goals in Sunday’s 13-9 win over Longwood proved to make the difference. She also recorded an assist in the win.
