Collegian Athletes of the Week

Sean Quigley Cross Country Braintree, Mass. Senior

At the NCAA Pre-Nationals last weekend, Quigley recorded a time of 23:53.3, good for 15th overall in a field of 246 competitors. La Salle’s men finished 25th in the event, and Quigley was named the Atlantic 10 Men’s Cross Country Performer of the Week.

Male Honorable Mention: Senior Bernie Cevis had a big game for the football team this week. In the Explorers’ second win of the season, Cevis caught four passes for a total of 98 yards and two touchdowns. La Salle beat Catholic in Washington, D.C. by a score of 27-14.

Rachel Papin Cross Country Philadelphia Senior

At the NCAA Pre-Nationals, Papin finished 29th in a field of 245 runners. Her time was 20:50.6, and she led the women’s team to 14th place out of 36 teams. Her performance earned her the honor of Atlantic 10 Women’s Cross Country Performer of the Week.

Female Honorable Mention: Freshman Kelly Dougherty was the difference maker for the La Salle field hockey team on Sunday. She scored a goal at the 24:20 mark in the first half, and it proved to be the game winner as the Explorers beat Saint Joseph’s, 1-0.
