Mark Moraca Football Mantua, N.J. Defensive Back Senior

In the fourth quarter of the game against TCNJ, the Explorers were struggling on offense and in desperate need of a spark. Moraca came up with a huge play when he blocked a TCNJ punt. This started an Explorer comeback, but La Salle ultimately came up short.

Male Honorable Mention: Last week’s Athlete of the Week, junior Jeremy Ortiz, scored another goal this week for the men’s soccer team, continuing his hot start to the season.

Ellen Axelsen Field Hockey New Hyde Park, N.Y. Goalkeeper Junior

This weekend, the field hockey team played two games, and Axelsen played very well. Against Robert Morris, she made five saves en route to a 3-0 shutout. The next day, she faced 30 shots and allowed only two goals against Towson in a losing effort.

Female Honorable Mention: Junior Joann Lee was one of the only bright spots for the Explorers in the women’s tennis opener against Lafayette. She won her match 7-6, 6-1.
