Track competes at Delaware: Men and women both finish sixth in event
The Explorer track and field teams traveled to Delaware for the Delaware Invitational Saturday afternoon. Both the men’s and the women’s teams finished sixth in the nine-team field. On the men’s side, freshman Andrew Wagoner finished first in the 5,000-meter run, with a time of 16:15.54. Senior Keith Burke won the 60-meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 8.28 seconds. The Explorers also won the 4x800-meter relay, with a time of 8:11.17.\ The La Salle women only finished first in one event, but in that event they had the top two finishers. In the 3,000-meter run, senior Karen Proulx finished in first with a time of 10:33.58. Behind her was sophomore Mary Clare Parrott, whose 10:52.32 was good for second place. Next up for the Explorer track teams is a meet at Boston University. This Friday, the track teams will travel to Boston for the Terrier Classic. The track squads will be very active in the near future, as they have meets to compete in just about every weekend from now through May. They will look to use their performances at Delaware to build on and increase their chances of success down the road. mcdonaldm2@lasalle.edu |
