Where Can You Go to Help People and Win Great Stuff? At La Salle University’s Service Trip Auction on Feb. 9
La Salle University will host its third annual auction to raise funds for students’ service trips in the United States, Africa and Mexico. The event will be held on Feb. 9 starting at 4:30 in the school’s ballroom in the Student Union Center, with bidding beginning at 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Prizes up for bid include a trip to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y.; a week-long vacation to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; two roundtrip tickets on Southwest Airlines, sports memorabilia, and tickets to Bill Joel’s concert on Valentine’s Day.
In addition, dinner and dessert will be provided.
This year, about 90 students will be traveling to Kentucky, Boston, Tijuana, Mexico and Mwanza, Tanzania. Students on previous service trips have built schools in Mexico and homes in Appalachia and cared for the sick.
The trips are sponsored by the school’s Office of University Ministry and Service, which holds several events during the school year to garner funds. The goal this year is $90,000; so far, $52,000 has been raised.
