Vietnam Generation Journal

Published between 1989 and 1996, the Vietnam Generation Journal and its accompanying newsletter served as a premier source of essays, artwork, poetry
and other materials for the field of Vietnam War studies. When the journal ceased publication, the Vietnam Generation archives were sent to the Connelly Library Department of Special Collections.

" I draw in the mornings after bad nightmares. In the afternoons when I’m in outer space. I don’t draw in the evenings. It’s all built up too much. Whenever it hits me, I pick up my paper and do it. Drawing eases the pain. It gets things out on paper that I really want to say, but have a hard time saying. Trying to find peace is what it’s all about."

This digitized portfolio of protest posters was created in the United States, in the late 1960s. Selected from an exhibition at the University Art Museum of the University of California, Berkeley, these unsigned posters represent contributors to the peace movement, rather than the intent of individual artists.

Buttons of the Era
Behind every button is the impetus of its production. Someone, somewhere, was moved enough by an event or a belief to turn it into a logo and capture it on a circle encased in plastic.

Vietnam on Record

What constitutes a Vietnam War song? To be included in the Discography it must mention Vietnam, or if released between 1962 and 1975—the so-called war years—its lyrics must deal with soldiers, fighting, patriotism and related issues.
