Sarah Logan Wister Starr, 1873 - 1956

Sarah Logan Wister was born in 1873 to parents John Wister and Sarah Tyler Boas Wister. At age twenty eight she married James Starr, a motivated and intelligent businessman. Educated, witty, and refined, Sarah Logan Wister Starr dedicated much of her time participating in numerous esteemed social and scholarly organizations within Philadelphia. She also took great measures to renovate and modernize the Belfield Estate, which remains on La Salle University’s campus. Sarah Logan Wister Starr was an intelligent and wealthy woman, as well as a published author; her contributions to La Salle and the Philadelphia area remain evident to this day.
