Security and Safety Services
The La Salle University Security and Safety Department is deeply committed to our mission of ensuring the safety of our students, faculty, staff and guests. In addition we seek to deliver the highest level of quality service that is possible. The department resources and delivery of services are described below as allocated by physical location and are based upon a set of priorities:
The highest level priority is the environment which encompasses our residence halls where students and staff reside. Our residence halls, and students, faculty staff and guests therein are protected by: security desk receptionists deployed by the University through a contract with Allied Barton Security Services, an identification card access system and 24- hour camera surveillance capacity. At this level of priority as well is the security of our campus open spaces, our buildings and facilities and the safety of all students, staff and guests that occupy those spaces. These areas receive regular La Salle Security and Safety Department vehicle and foot patrol. Throughout these areas as well are security booths and stations placed at strategic locations.
Next in priority is our walking, vehicular access and egress routes and our on-campus parking lots. Establishment of safe corridors of travel within these areas occupies an important focus of security staff on our campus. These areas receive regular La Salle Security and Safety Department vehicle and foot patrol. Throughout these areas as well are security booths and stations placed at strategic locations.
The next level of priority encompasses the public property immediately adjacent to the University. This area is largely a public domain which is not fully controlled by the University. Despite the public nature of these spaces, La Salle University Security and Safety Department provides patrols and the University has made the decision to contract and partner with Allied Barton Security Services to provide bicycle patrols with the purpose of establishing safe walking corridors. The primary responsibility for the safety and patrol of this area resides with the Philadelphia Police Department.Next is the off campus area which extends beyond the University’s perimeter where our neighbors, and in steadily increasing numbers our students are residing. These areas are not controlled by the University. The primary responsibility for the safety and patrol of these areas resides with the Philadelphia Police Department. The La Salle Security and Safety Department will provide limited service within these areas, please see attached maps for description of boundaries and services.
