How to complete a Direct Loan Master Promissory Note
Due to recent legislation terminating the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP), La Salle University will use the Federal Direct Loan Program for all student and parent federal loans in the 2010-2011 academic year.
Students who wish to borrow subsidized and unsubsidized loans through the Federal Direct Loan Program are urged to complete the electronic Master Promissory Note (eMPN) process as soon as possible.
In order to complete the eMPN, students will need to have the following information readily available:
To complete the eMPN, visit the Department of Education web portal at https://studentloans.gov, and read and complete all items for the Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized loans, listing La Salle as your school choice. *First time borrowers must also complete the Direct Loan Entrance Counseling at the same time.
Completion of the eMPN will take approximately 15 to 20 minutes from beginning to end..
IMPORTANT NOTE: Make sure you allow enough time to complete the entire process in a single session since you will not be able to save the information.
