Field Placement (Internship)

Internship is a "hands-on" experience that provides students with the opportunity to integrate theory and practice while under direct clinical supervision.  The focal activity is face-to-face assessment and therapy with individuals, couples and families; however, the larger training experience includes a variety of activities including treatment planning, record keeping, attending staff team meetings and didactics, and interacting with professionals from other disciplines.

Students receive individual advisement to select a training site that best matches their interests and career goals. Students can apply to one of La Salle's affiliated agencies, or they can establish their own placement that meets La Salle's training requirements. La Salle has affiliations with a limited number of agencies that offer evening and weekend hours; students working full-time and/or who have restricted schedules are encouraged to speak with their adviser about finding a field placement site well in advance.

While students are in the Internship, they enroll in a co-requisite seminar to discuss professional and ethical issues as well as view video recordings of their clinical work. The seminar meets once a week in the evenings.
