Family Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Track
This track builds upon the Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Track and prepares students to provide direct care and to take leadership in the primary care of families. Primary care sites include outpatient clinics, work sites, college health services, emergency rooms, home health and other community-based settings. Upon graduation, students will become eligible to take the Family Primary Care National Certification Exam and seek state certification and employment as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with prescriptive authority. New graduates will become a valuable primary care provider and interdisciplinary team member as well as help meet the unique needs of families.
This track requires a total of 692 clinical hours. The clinical experiences are in NUR 665, NUR 667, NUR 668, NUR 669.
For post master’s certificate students who are already adult nurse practitioners, the clinical requirements are 308 hours.
