Welcome | History

Take a look around your home. Everyday life revolves around science, business and technology. Your cell phone, laptop, car, toaster, microwave... the list goes on and on. Thanks to the evolution of science and technology, it is now possible for society to solve problems that were deemed impossible a few years ago.

Technologies such as computers, transportation, and antibiotics have all dramatically improved the quality of life, the products we use and the methods we choose to communicate with one another. All of these modern technologies depend upon advancements in science and its applications to continue to have an important social and cultural influence on everyday life.

Advancements in science and technology do not come without a price. New technologies place new strains upon the earth's environment and natural resources. Air/water pollution, ozone depletion and energy shortages are a few of the problems partially offset by scientific and technological advances. These problems serve as constant reminders of how science and technology affect the social, political and economic situation of the world around us.

This is why La Salle University created the Integrated Science, Business and Technology (isbt) major. isbt offers you an amazingly flexible and innovative program. isbt combines classroom and laboratory activities with group projects, visits to local technology businesses and mentoring opportunities. Throughout the program you'll be able to witness science, business and technology in everyday life.
