Producer
Executive
Producer:
Oversees one or several programs. Position usually
held by the station manager but may be held by a highly experienced &
responsible student.
Producer:
In charge of planning, organizing, and overseeing a
program. Responsible for scheduling shoots, assembling a crew, arranging for
talent, and coordinating the overall production. Usually also a writer.
Associate
Producer:
Assists the producer in production matters, especially scheduling talent and finding crew.
Segment
Producer:
Responsible for a portion of the show on a regular basis, usually producing a pre-taped package.
Appears on TV, such as the host, anchor, or reporter.
Usually also a segment producer.
Writes either a portion of or the entire script. Usually also a
producer.
Directs talent and technical crew in order transform
the script into a viewable program. Often instructs crew from the control room.
Operates the switcher, controlling
what is seen on air.
Directs all action on the studio floor, often
relaying the director’s cues to the talent and informing the talent which
camera to look into.
Runs the videotape and tells the
crew how much time until package ends.
Recalls the graphics, names, and credits for the show
from the character generator.
Recalls still images and graphics for the show from
the electronic still store. May also operate the character
generator.
Works the audio board to control all sound levels during the show.
Controls the speed of the
teleprompter according to how fast the talent speaks.
Focuses and frames the shots using
the studio cameras.
