With Alexander Street Video, users can do a single search across all the Alexander Street video in the library.
On a single cross-searchable platform, users have a completely integrated online repository of Alexander Street video titles that your institution subscribes to or owns, including VAST: Academic Video Online (a large, multidisciplinary video product with nearly 17,000 videos and continuing to grow), along with individual discipline collections in history, art and architecture, business, counseling and therapy, dance, opera, theatre, musical performance, anthropology, health and rehabilitation, opera, nursing, science, women’s studies, black studies, LGBT studies, and more.
If you subscribe to VAST: Academic Video Online, or you own or subscribe to any of our discipline-specific collections – and also if you’ve subscribed to individual streaming video titles through www.academicvideostore.com – all of these videos can be searched through the Alexander Street Video interface.
Most of the videos are fully transcribed in addition to being indexed for subjects, people, places, release date, language, publisher, and video type. As a result, students and scholars can combine keyword and fielded search capabilities to frame creative and highly targeted queries. We continue to add transcriptions to the videos over time.
Users can also select to search a single video collection by using the dropdown menu at the top of the homepage of Alexander Street Video.
Additional tools let users make custom clips, create playlists, see synchronized scrolling transcripts, share clips and playlists, view and copy clips and playlists already created, see a visual table of contents of the video for easy navigation, and other tools.
