Online Renewal

Who Can Renew

Any borrower may renew their books online, however, you will be unable to use this feature if there are any outstanding blocks against your record.

1. Overdue items may only be renewed at the circulation desk.
2. If a fine on your account is more than $5.00, you will need to pay the fine before you renew.
3. There is a limit of two renewals for most material.
4. Items that have been recalled or put on hold for other patrons cannot be renewed.
5. Any materials borrowed from the Audio-Visual Department cannot be renewed online.
6. Reserve materials cannot be renewed online.
7. Requests for renewal of interlibrary loan materials must be made through the ILL Department (X-1287).

How to Renew Online

On the Internet:

Select the
Library Catalog from the Library’s Homepage

1. Select "View Your Circulation Record".
2. Enter your name and the barcode from your ID or borrowers card.
3. Select the link for "Items Currently Checked Out".
4. Select "Renew All" or you may select specific items by checking the box in the review column that appears to the left of each item and then select "Renew Selected Items".

From the Text-Based Catalog:

1. Select V > VIEW your circulation record.
2. Select V > VIEW your circulation record.
3. Select R> RENEW items.
4. Select items by keying their number in the list. For renewal of multiple items, numbers may be keyed individually, separated by commas (1,2,5), as a range, using a hyphen (2-4), or a combination (1,3-4). Hit the <Enter> key when you have finished making your selection.

If You Experience Problems/Limitations

Make sure you verify that your books have been renewed and note the new due dates. If you cannot determine why you are unable to renew your materials, call the Circulation Desk at 215-951-1293.

To take full advantage of the online renewal feature, do not renew your books too soon. The new due date is calculated from the day of the renewal, not from the original due date. Renewing "early and often" will actually shorten the amount of time you can have a book. We recommend that you renew your books as close to the due date as possibe.
