The library’s terminals do not have any additional software loaded because they are specifically for research purposes. We do not have enough terminals to act as a computer lab. If you need access to both the library databases and Microsoft Office software, remember that all our databases are available from all terminals on campus and also from off campus with a Username and Password.
Most college and university libraries do not make a practice of purchasing all textbooks that students require for their courses for a number of reasons:
- The purpose of a library collection is to supplement and expand upon classroom material, not to duplicate it.
- A copy of a required course text would serve the needs of only 1 member of a class since once the text had been checked out it would not be available to other class members;
- Textbooks are updated much more frequently than other types of publications and therefore rapidly become obsolete.
If a required “text” for your course is something other than the traditional textbook we may have it in the collection. Just check the CATALOG link on the library’s Home Page.
