There is no one database which will cover all the full text periodical articles
available through our library's homepage. Nor are all the periodicals to which
the library subscribes available online.
With the exception of titles in Lexis-Nexis, there are links to all online periodicals
to which we have access in the library's catalog. Sometimes, however you may
wish to perform a full text periodical search, while realizing that you are
not doing a complete search of your subject. Here are the databases you can
use.
To use these databases off-campus, you need a password.
ProQuest : You can limit your search to full text articles only at the bottom of the search screen.
Lexis-Nexis : This service is primarily full text. Please note that the titles covered in Lexis-Nexis are the only ones we do NOT have loaded in our catalog. To find out if a title you wish to search is in Lexis-Nexis you must search the source list.
JSTOR : This database includes the full text of scholarly periodicals from the first year of publication up until the last few years. JSTOR is intended as an archive so the most recent years are not available. There is a "moving wall" so each year another year's worth of articles will be added. The full text of the articles in these periodicals may be searched and an image displayed and printed.
Project Muse: Project MUSE® offers nearly 250 quality journal titles from 40 scholarly publishers. Can be browsed or searched.
PsycArticles : Please note that if you perform a search in PsycInfo (from FirstSearch) you will be linked to any results which have full text in PsycARTICLES.
The Essential Nursing Collection from YourJournals@Ovid : 41 major nursing journals are searchable full text in this database. When you logon to Ovid, press Continue to get past the news page. Choose the database YourJournals@Ovid. Please note that all of the journals in this database are loaded with links to the full text in the library's catalog.
EbscoHost Electronic Journals Online : This is a collection of fulltext journals to which we have access because we maintain a print subscription. Therefore there is no particular subject matter covered. Usually only the last few years are available. Still, the ability to search full text means that you may frequently find articles you would not discover otherwise. Please note: Since the publishers all have different electronic interfaces, you may need to be persistent and read the instructions on the screen to pull up the full text. Also be aware that publishers may change their access policies without warning so sometimes links do not work. Please let us know if this happens.
ACM Digital Library : The ACM Digital Library Core Package consists of subscriptions to all ACM journals, magazines and transactions, both in print and online, including an online fifteen-year archive. Please note: We have access to journals, magazines and transactions ONLY. We do not have access to any other material on the ACM portal.
Emerald : This is a collection of searchable journals available from Emerald publishers who specialize in Management, Marketing and Library and Information Science. There are currently 139 periodicals available through this service.
