Research Consultations

Have more than a quick question? Schedule a research consultation with a reference librarian. This is great if you're new to research, are starting a research assignment, or if you just need a refresh on library resources.

  • Small groups welcome!
  • Please include what you are hoping to get from the session, any information about your research (like your topic if you have one) in the notes section so the librarian can be prepared.
  • If you schedule a Zoom consultation, the invite link will be included in your confirmation email.

Policies and Guidelines:

1. Who may submit a question?

Any La Salle University affiliated patron: students, faculty, administrators and staff. We cannot answer questions for the general public which is why we require your La Salle ID#.

2. Who will answer my question and how will I receive my answer?

One of our librarians will email a response.

3. How long will it take for a response?

Most questions will be answered within 24 hours.

4. What kinds of questions can I ask?

You can ask any question which you might pose at the Reference Desk. Check first with our Frequently Asked Questions page to see if your question has been answered already.

Acceptable types of questions:

  • Where should I look for information of a particular topic?

  • I need a quick fact: an address, a biographical or historical fact, a correct citation.

  • Can I set up a meeting with a librarian for a particular time?

Remember: the librarians will steer you in the right direction, but they will not do your research for you. That remains your responsibility as part of your education.
